id=\"overview\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vue d'ensemble<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AIR\u00b3 Vario Watch transforme une montre connect\u00e9e Wear OS en variom\u00e8tre acoustique. L'application interroge le capteur de pression barom\u00e9trique de la montre plusieurs fois par seconde, en d\u00e9duit votre vitesse verticale et \u00e9met un son dont la hauteur et le rythme suivent cette vitesse verticale \u2014 le son que les pilotes de vol libre utilisent pour rep\u00e9rer et se positionner au centre des courants thermiques sans avoir \u00e0 consulter un instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L'application s'articule autour de deux appareils :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>La montre<\/strong> does all the work in flight: sensors, sound, GPS, automatic takeoff and landing detection. It runs on its own and does not need the phone to be nearby once it is configured. A handful of key settings can also be switched on or off directly on the watch, mid-flight \u2014 see <a href=\"#quick-toggles\">Quick toggles on the watch<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Le t\u00e9l\u00e9phone<\/strong> is the settings panel for everything else you tune \u2014 thresholds, sound behaviour, units, automatic detection \u2014 set here and sent to the watch over the Wear OS connection. The subscription is also managed here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deux fonctionnalit\u00e9s vont au-del\u00e0 des capacit\u00e9s d'un simple capteur de pression. Elles sont toutes deux d\u00e9sactiv\u00e9es par d\u00e9faut : <a href=\"#instant-lift\">Lift instantan\u00e9<\/a> utilise les capteurs de mouvement de la montre pour signaler le moment o\u00f9 vous entrez dans le thermique, avant m\u00eame qu'un changement de pression ne soit mesurable ; <a href=\"#weak-lift\">Lift faible<\/a> met en valeur la bande autour de z\u00e9ro \u2014 l\u00e9g\u00e8re baisse, stabilisation, l\u00e9g\u00e8re remont\u00e9e \u2014 o\u00f9 se concentre l\u2019essentiel de la portance exploitable lors d\u2019une journ\u00e9e de lift faible. Ces deux ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes sont d\u00e9crits dans la section <a href=\"#settings\">Guide des param\u00e8tres<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il est con\u00e7u pour le parapente et le deltaplane, mais aucun de ses \u00e9l\u00e9ments n'est sp\u00e9cifique au vol libre : toute activit\u00e9 o\u00f9 l'on souhaite savoir si l'on monte ou si l'on descend fonctionne de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exigences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Une montre connect\u00e9e fonctionnant sous <strong>Wear OS 5 ou version ult\u00e9rieure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Un <strong>capteur de pression barom\u00e9trique<\/strong> dans la montre. C'est ce qui rend un variom\u00e8tre r\u00e9actif. Sans cela, l'application se rabat sur l'altitude GPS, qui est bien plus lente et nettement moins pr\u00e9cise dans l'axe vertical \u2014 elle permet d'afficher une altitude, mais n'est pas vraiment utilisable comme variom\u00e8tre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>GPS<\/strong> sur la montre, pour la vitesse au sol, le cap et la d\u00e9tection automatique du d\u00e9collage. Le vario fonctionne quant \u00e0 lui sans GPS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Un <strong>t\u00e9l\u00e9phone Android appair\u00e9 avec la montre.<\/strong>, pour modifier les param\u00e8tres et vous abonner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Un abonnement actif pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de la fonction \u00ab Vario Sound \u00bb et de l'affichage permanent (voir <a href=\"#subscription\">Abonnement<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pas de barom\u00e8tre ?<\/strong> Si la montre ne dispose pas de capteur de pression, l'\u00e9cran principal affiche un message d'avertissement et l'application utilise alors l'altitude GPS \u00e0 la place. La vitesse verticale sera alors impr\u00e9cise et pr\u00e9sente des fluctuations importantes. Il est vivement recommand\u00e9 d'utiliser une montre barom\u00e9trique.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"hardware\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ce qui d\u00e9pend du mat\u00e9riel de votre montre<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il est important de bien comprendre cela avant votre premier vol, car cela vous permet de savoir \u00e0 quoi vous pouvez raisonnablement vous attendre. L'application AIR\u00b3 Vario Watch ne mesure rien par elle-m\u00eame : elle interroge les capteurs dont votre montre est d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9quip\u00e9e, et sa pr\u00e9cision d\u00e9pend enti\u00e8rement de celle de ces derniers. Deux pilotes utilisant la m\u00eame application sur deux montres diff\u00e9rentes peuvent obtenir des r\u00e9sultats sensiblement diff\u00e9rents, et cette diff\u00e9rence provient du mat\u00e9riel, et non des r\u00e9glages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quatre \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u00e9pendent de votre montre plut\u00f4t que de l'application :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Qualit\u00e9 des capteurs de pression.<\/strong> Ce param\u00e8tre d\u00e9termine le niveau de pr\u00e9cision et la r\u00e9activit\u00e9 du vario. Un barom\u00e8tre impr\u00e9cis ou bruyant g\u00e9n\u00e8re une vitesse verticale qui soit varie de mani\u00e8re saccad\u00e9e, soit doit \u00eatre liss\u00e9e \u00e0 un tel point qu\u2019elle r\u00e9agit avec un temps de retard. Le r\u00e9glage de lissage vous permet de choisir entre ces deux options, mais il ne peut pas apporter une pr\u00e9cision dont le capteur n\u2019a jamais dispos\u00e9 \u2014 et la fonction \u00ab Weak Lift \u00bb, qui fonctionne sur de tr\u00e8s faibles variations d\u2019altitude, est la premi\u00e8re \u00e0 en p\u00e2tir lorsque le capteur est de mauvaise qualit\u00e9.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>R\u00e9cepteur GPS et antenne.<\/strong> Ces param\u00e8tres d\u00e9terminent votre vitesse au sol, votre cap et la pr\u00e9cision de votre position, et donc la fiabilit\u00e9 du d\u00e9collage automatique. Certaines montres conservent une bonne position sous l'aile ; d'autres la perdent dans un virage ou voient sa pr\u00e9cision diminuer d\u00e8s que l'\u00e9cran est \u00e9teint.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Processeur et gestion de l'alimentation.<\/strong> Les fabricants sont libres de limiter les performances ou de suspendre les applications fonctionnant en arri\u00e8re-plan afin de pr\u00e9server l'autonomie de la batterie, et certains n'h\u00e9sitent pas \u00e0 le faire de mani\u00e8re radicale. Dans ce cas, vous pouvez percevoir de br\u00e8ves coupures dans le son ou constater que l'\u00e9cran s'actualise moins souvent, m\u00eame si l'application ne change en rien son comportement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sortie haut-parleur.<\/strong> Le volume sonore des haut-parleurs de surveillance varie consid\u00e9rablement d'un mod\u00e8le \u00e0 l'autre. Sur certains mod\u00e8les, le Vario est parfaitement audible en vol ; sur d'autres, il est difficile de l'entendre \u00e0 cause du bruit du vent \u00e0 grande vitesse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L'application ne peut en aucun cas pallier ces lacunes ; c'est pourquoi il est important de d\u00e9terminer les capacit\u00e9s de votre montre avant de vous y fier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Testez-la d'abord au sol<\/strong> Utilisez le test sonore pour v\u00e9rifier le niveau sonore r\u00e9el de votre montre, et le graphique d\u2019altitude pour \u00e9valuer la pr\u00e9cision de votre capteur de pression : montez et descendez quelques vol\u00e9es d\u2019escaliers et observez dans quelle mesure la courbe liss\u00e9e suit les points bruts. Effectuez ensuite quelques vols en parall\u00e8le avec un appareil auquel vous faites d\u00e9j\u00e0 confiance avant de consid\u00e9rer celui-ci comme votre r\u00e9f\u00e9rence principale. Si les r\u00e9sultats vous d\u00e9\u00e7oivent, la r\u00e9ponse honn\u00eate est souvent que c\u2019est la montre qui constitue la limite, et non les r\u00e9glages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"install\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ces deux applications sont publi\u00e9es sous une seule fiche sur Google Play ; vous pouvez donc les installer \u00e0 partir du m\u00eame endroit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u00c0 partir de la montre :<\/strong> Ouvrez le Play Store sur la montre, recherchez <strong>AIR\u00b3 Vario Watch<\/strong> et installez-la. Ouvrez ensuite l'application et appuyez sur l'ic\u00f4ne en forme de t\u00e9l\u00e9phone situ\u00e9e en bas de l'\u00e9cran : cela ouvrira automatiquement le Play Store sur votre t\u00e9l\u00e9phone, avec la fiche de l'application pr\u00eate \u00e0 \u00eatre install\u00e9e.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u00c0 partir du t\u00e9l\u00e9phone:<\/strong> ouvrez <strong>Google Play<\/strong> sur votre t\u00e9l\u00e9phone et installez <strong>AIR\u00b3 Vario Watch<\/strong>. Rendez-vous ensuite sur le Play Store de la montre pour y installer l'application d\u00e9di\u00e9e.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pas de notification automatique<\/strong>\nLes anciennes versions de Wear OS envoyaient une notification \u00e0 la montre lorsqu'une application associ\u00e9e \u00e9tait install\u00e9e sur le t\u00e9l\u00e9phone. Cela ne fonctionne plus de mani\u00e8re fiable sur les appareils actuels. Si l'application de la montre n'appara\u00eet pas d'elle-m\u00eame, rendez-vous directement sur le Play Store depuis la montre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vous avez besoin des deux : l'application pour la montre pour prendre l'avion, et l'application pour le t\u00e9l\u00e9phone pour la configurer et vous abonner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"first-run\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Premier d\u00e9marrage et autorisations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La premi\u00e8re fois que vous ouvrez l'application sur la montre, celle-ci vous demande deux autorisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Permission<\/th><th>Pourquoi est-ce n\u00e9cessaire ?<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Localisation<\/td><td>Vitesse au sol, cap, pr\u00e9cision GPS, d\u00e9tection automatique du d\u00e9collage et altitude GPS lorsque la montre ne dispose pas de barom\u00e8tre. Ces informations sont n\u00e9cessaires lorsque l'\u00e9cran est \u00e9teint ; c'est pourquoi l'application fonctionne en tant que service en avant-plan.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Notifications<\/td><td>Pour afficher la notification permanente qui maintient l'application active et vous permet d'arr\u00eater le vario sans ouvrir l'application.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">M\u00eame si vous pouvez d\u00e9sactiver ces deux fonctions, cela n'est pas vraiment recommand\u00e9. Le son du vario continuera de fonctionner gr\u00e2ce au barom\u00e8tre seul, mais vous perdrez la vitesse sol, le cap et le d\u00e9collage automatique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Une fois l'application ouverte, le barom\u00e8tre et le GPS commencent imm\u00e9diatement \u00e0 fonctionner, avant m\u00eame que vous n'appuyiez sur quoi que ce soit. The blue dot beside the vertical speed reflects the setting itself, on or off \u2014 not whether the watch has actually managed to start the sensors it needs, so it stays blue on a watch without an accelerometer or gyroscope even though Instant Lift cannot do anything there. The stronger the climb, the higher the pitch and the shorter and closer together the beeps \u2014 so a strong thermal sounds fast, a weak one slow. Sinking, the tone drops low and stretches into a long, almost continuous growl that gets deeper the faster you go down. Between the two, around zero, the sound is quiet and unhurried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The transition is continuous rather than stepped: the pitch and rhythm shift smoothly as your vertical speed changes, which is what lets you hear a climb strengthening or fading rather than only hearing that it exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fr\u00e9quence dynamique<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With <em>Fr\u00e9quence dynamique<\/em> on, each beep does not hold a single pitch: it slides toward the pitch of the vertical speed you are heading for, based on the current trend. A climb that is strengthening sounds like a rising beep, one that is fading sounds like a falling beep. It tells you where the air is going, not only where it is \u2014 useful when centring a thermal, since you hear the improvement before the average catches up. Turn it off for a plainer, more traditional tone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start and stop tones<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vario plays a short confirmation sound when it starts and another when it stops. With automatic takeoff enabled, this is how you know the vario has armed itself without looking at the watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"auto\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">D\u00e9collage et atterrissage automatiques<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point of these is that you never have to remember to start or stop the vario. Both need an active subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatic takeoff<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With <em>D\u00e9collage auto<\/em> on, the watch starts the vario by itself when either of two conditions holds for the whole takeoff window:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>By GPS speed<\/strong> \u2014 your ground speed stays at or above the takeoff speed. This is the normal case for a running launch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>By altitude<\/strong> \u2014 your barometric altitude changes by at least the takeoff altitude value. This works without GPS and covers cases where you gain height without much ground speed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Either one is enough on its own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Choosing the takeoff window<\/strong> The GPS updates about once a second, so a window shorter than a couple of seconds gives the speed test very few samples to work with. Two seconds or more is a sensible floor. If your vario starts while you are walking around launch, raise the takeoff speed rather than shortening the window.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Automatic takeoff is suspended after you stop the vario by hand, and stays suspended until you tap <em>Annuler<\/em> on the close screen or reopen the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dot to the left of the Start button confirms it \u2014 green when enabled, grey when not. Tap it to turn automatic takeoff off or back on directly on the watch; see <a href=\"#quick-toggles\">Quick toggles on the watch<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatic landing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With <em>Atterrissage auto<\/em> on, the watch stops the vario when it is satisfied you are on the ground. The test is deliberately conservative, because a vario that stops mid-flight is worse than one that keeps beeping on the ground. Four things must all be true:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The vario has been running for at least <strong>5 seconds<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vous <strong>actually flew<\/strong> \u2014 your altitude has changed since the vario started by at least the <em>Takeoff \u2192 Altitude<\/em> value. Until that happens, no landing can be detected at all. This is what stops a ground test or a forgotten vario from &#8220;landing&#8221; on its own.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your <strong>altitude has been stable<\/strong> for the whole landing window \u2014 the total variation stays within the landing altitude tolerance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your <strong>ground speed is below the landing speed<\/strong> throughout \u2014 counting only readings the GPS itself reports as precise.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That last point matters more than it looks. When GPS reception drops \u2014 under a wing, in a valley, in a turn \u2014 the watch reports a speed of 0 km\/h simply because it has nothing better to say. Taken at face value, that looks exactly like standing still in a field. So the app tracks how confident the GPS is in each speed reading and discards the ones it cannot trust, rather than reading them as proof that you have stopped. When speed is unusable, stable altitude alone has to carry the decision \u2014 and since gaining or losing height is precisely what flying does, that remains a demanding test to pass in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When all four hold, the vario stops, plays its shutdown tone, and the app returns to the main screen. The app itself stays open, and closes on its own once the auto-close timeout expires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dot to the right of the Start button confirms whether automatic landing is enabled \u2014 green when it is, grey when it is not. Tap it to turn it off or back on directly on the watch; see <a href=\"#quick-toggles\">Quick toggles on the watch<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"altitude\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">R\u00e9f\u00e9rence d'altitude et unit\u00e9s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A barometer measures pressure, not height. To turn pressure into altitude, the app needs to know what pressure to treat as sea level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>QNE<\/strong> uses the international standard value of 1013.25 hPa. The result is a pressure altitude \u2014 the same reference everyone else in the air is using, and what you want for airspace. It is the default.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>QNH<\/strong> uses the actual sea level pressure of the day, which you set yourself. The result matches real height above sea level, so it agrees with the altitude marked on your map.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In QNH mode, the phone shows the resulting altitude in metres and feet as you adjust the pressure \u2014 so you can simply turn the value until the altitude matches the known elevation of your launch site. The <strong>Utiliser l'altitude GPS<\/strong> button does the same thing automatically, computing the sea level pressure from the GPS altitude and the pressure the watch is currently reading. It works only while the watch has a GPS altitude to send.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Switching back to QNH resets the pressure to 1013.25 hPa, so you always start from a known value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Altitude can be displayed in metres or feet, and ground speed in km\/h, m\/s, mph or knots. Both are set on the phone and applied on the watch immediately. Vertical speed follows the altitude unit rather than the speed unit \u2014 see <a href=\"#units\">Unit\u00e9s<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"battery\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Autonomie et fonctionnement en arri\u00e8re-plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A vario is demanding: the barometer, GPS and audio all run continuously, and the app holds the watch awake so the sound never stops when the screen dims. Expect noticeably shorter battery life than a normal day of watch use, and start a long flight on a full charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two things keep this under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The auto-close timeout<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the app is open but the vario is <strong>not<\/strong> running, it closes itself completely after the timeout \u2014 10 minutes by default, adjustable from 2 to 30 minutes on the phone. This is the safety net for the app left open in your pocket after landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The timer restarts on any interaction: opening a screen, pressing a button, receiving a setting from the phone. And it never runs while the vario is active \u2014 a long flight will not close the app on you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Closing it yourself<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reliable way to stop everything is the exit icon followed by <strong>Compl\u00e8tement fermer<\/strong>. That releases the sensors, GPS and audio and removes the notification. Simply swiping the app away leaves the service running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"subscription\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abonnement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AIR\u00b3 Vario Watch is free to install and free to try. The subscription is tied to your Google account, so it covers both apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tapping <em>S'abonner<\/em> on the watch does not open a purchase screen there \u2014 it opens the AIR\u00b3 app on your paired phone, where the purchase happens. This is a Wear OS limitation, not a step you can skip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the watch knows<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The watch checks its own Google Play subscription status directly, and re-checks every 24 hours, so an expired or cancelled subscription is picked up without you doing anything. The phone also forwards its status to the watch, which is what makes a fresh purchase appear on the watch quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the watch has been offline for a long time, open the app while it is connected to the phone to let it re-check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"diagnostic\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Journal de diagnostic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the app does not behave the way you expect \u2014 the vario starting or stopping at the wrong moment, for instance \u2014 you can have it record a log file to help you understand what happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turn it on under <em>General \u2192 Diagnostic log<\/em> on the phone, or tap the word <em>GPS<\/em> at the top of either watch screen to switch it on or off directly there \u2014 see <a href=\"#quick-toggles\">Quick toggles on the watch<\/a>. It is off by default and only records while the vario is running. Each flight is recorded as a self-contained session: the settings in force at the time, how and why the vario started, what the sensors were reading second by second, and how and why it stopped. That is usually enough to see which threshold needs adjusting rather than having to guess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The settings recorded at the start of each session are written in the units you had selected, so a log read months later still matches what you saw on screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The watch sends the log to the phone during and after each flight, and the phone saves it as a plain text file in your <strong>Downloads<\/strong> folder, grouped by day. <strong>Ouvrir le dernier journal<\/strong> opens the most recent one; if nothing on your phone can display a text file, open it from Downloads with a file manager instead. <strong>Supprimer tous les journaux<\/strong> removes them all at once, with no confirmation and no undo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A log holds your settings and sensor readings only \u2014 no track and no position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"troubleshooting\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">D\u00e9pannage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The phone says &#8220;No watch connected&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check that the watch is paired and connected in your companion app (Wear OS or Galaxy Wearable) and that Bluetooth is on. Then tap the refresh button next to the message. Settings cannot be sent while this line is red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A setting flashes red when I change it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The setting did not reach the watch. Check the connection line at the top, then change the value again. If several settings in a row fail, restarting both apps usually clears it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My settings did not arrive on the watch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Wear OS link between phone and watch can take a moment, and occasionally needs a nudge. Confirm the watch is connected, then re-send the setting by changing it and changing it back. Settings already accepted are stored on the watch and are not lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I cannot hear the vario<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check that the watch is not in silent or theatre mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the watch media volume, or turn on <em>R\u00e9gler le volume maximal<\/em> on the phone so the app raises it for you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are wearing Bluetooth headphones paired to the watch, the sound goes there instead of the speaker.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the sound test to confirm audio works at all before blaming the vario.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The vario will not start<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the button reads <em>S'abonner<\/em>, there is no active subscription. Otherwise the button starts the vario in any GPS state \u2014 a red <em>Pas de GPS<\/em> label does not block it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The app closed by itself<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the auto-close timeout: the app was open with the vario stopped for longer than the configured delay. Raise it under <em>General \u2192 Auto-close timeout<\/em> on the phone if you want more time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The vario started while I was still on launch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Automatic takeoff triggered on your walking speed or on an altitude change. Raise <em>Takeoff \u2192 Speed<\/em>, raise <em>Takeoff \u2192 Altitude<\/em>, lengthen <em>Takeoff \u2192 Window<\/em>, or turn <em>D\u00e9collage auto<\/em> off and start the vario by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The vario stopped in flight<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Automatic landing needs stable altitude and a trustworthy low ground speed together, so this is unlikely \u2014 losing GPS reception on its own will not do it. It can still happen in very smooth air at low ground speed, typically in a weak, flat thermal. Increase <em>Landing \u2192 Window<\/em>, decrease <em>Landing \u2192 Speed<\/em>, or turn <em>Atterrissage auto<\/em> off. You can always restart from the main screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If it keeps happening, turn on the <a href=\"#diagnostic\">diagnostic log<\/a> and fly again \u2014 the log will show the exact altitudes and speeds behind the decision, which is a far better basis for adjusting your thresholds than guesswork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The vertical speed is jumpy, or too slow to react<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adjust <em>Vario \u2192 Averaging<\/em> on the phone, and the smoothing value on the watch&#8217;s chart screen. Longer averaging and lower smoothing give a calmer vario; the opposite gives a faster one. The chart screen lets you see the effect directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If no combination gives you both a quick and a clean reading, you have reached the limit of your watch&#8217;s pressure sensor rather than a limit of the settings \u2014 see <a href=\"#hardware\">Ce qui d\u00e9pend du mat\u00e9riel de votre montre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"faq\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">FAQ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do I need my phone with me when I fly?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No. The watch app is fully standalone. Configure it once from the phone and leave the phone in the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does it work without GPS?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. The vario sound comes from the barometer alone. Without GPS you lose ground speed, heading and automatic takeoff by speed \u2014 but automatic takeoff by altitude still works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does it record my flight?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No. AIR\u00b3 Vario Watch is a variometer, not a flight recorder or navigation instrument. It does not log tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I use it for something other than free flight?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. Anything where hearing your vertical movement is useful \u2014 gliding, ballooning, or any activity where you want to track altitude changes \u2014 works the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why does it need location permission?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For ground speed, heading and automatic takeoff detection, and for altitude when the watch has no barometer.
