FlightVario is one of AIR³’s best friends, extending the capabilities of AIR³. One of the key features of the app is the ability to use AIR³’s IMU for an enhanced vario experience. An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) is a combination of sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer) that plays a key role in providing instant vario capability.

You can either use it as a stand-alone application, using it as a flight computer, or use it alongside XCTrack, in the background, with the acoustic vario of XCTrack turned off and the acoustic vario of theFlightVario turned on.

“Once we got an information that AIR³ operates on Android operating system, we wanted to test it together with our product – PATpad (Paragliding Accuracy Target pad). The PATpad is designed to be paired with any Android device using dedicated application and Bluetooth connection. The installation of the app onto AIR³ was simple as on any other Android phone or tablet. We found out that combination of both devices works perfectly, plus the bright and large display of the AIR³ allows to use it also as a monitor in the vicinity of the PATpad (and not only on the pilot’s cockpit). This is a helpful feature for accuracy landing events, where is a need for a bigger screen, good visibility from a distance and durable autonomy without external power supply. Another perfect case of AIR³ versatility.”
