Why does AIR³ sometimes detect a takeoff and landing while I am not flying?

XCTrack relies on GPS data to determine whether you are moving and flying.
When the tablet is used indoors, inside a car, or in any location with poor satellite reception, the GPS position can become inaccurate and unstable.

In these conditions, the reported location may randomly jump by several meters even though the device is not actually moving. XCTrack can interpret these false position changes as real movement and may therefore detect a “takeoff”.

After a short time, since there is no consistent movement anymore, XCTrack recognizes that the device is stationary and automatically detects a “landing”.

This behavior is normal and is caused by weak GPS reception, not by a problem with AIR³.

If you want to reduce unwanted takeoff detections, you can increase the takeoff speed threshold in XCTrack: Preferences → Automatic actions → Takeoff speed

A higher threshold makes XCTrack less sensitive to small GPS position fluctuations.

For best results, use the device outdoors with a clear view of the sky before starting a flight.
